Providing quality dental care to
DVA CARD HOLDERS

Veterans can enjoy dental benefits from their DVA health cards at The Smile Space. We are a DVA-registered service provider, which means we can help you with your dental health care through a variety of services.

MEDICALLY-NECESSARY DENTAL COVER TO MEET THE NEEDS OF WAR VETERANS

Dental treatment can be expensive, but with your DVA Health Card, you may be entitled to free or subsidised dental services. These services include checkups, x-rays, cleaning and more. Patients with White Cards are covered for service-related procedures, and Veterans with Gold Cards are covered for all medically necessary dental treatments.

DVA-approved dental treatments are fully covered, but treatments that require verification of medical necessity may only be partially covered. Be sure to check with your dentist and DVA Health Card provider to see what treatments are covered before you receive dental care.

HOW THE DVA HEALTH CARDS WORK

Dental care is an important part of overall health, and the DVA health card program provides full coverage for dental treatment for injured veterans. DVA health cards make it more accessible for veterans to get the dental services they need.

Though the DVA health card provides coverage for preventative dental care, there is an Annual Monetary Limit (AML) on some high-cost items, like dental crowns and dental bridges. You may need to pay a certain portion of the bill for items exceeding the AML in one year.

A diverse selection of covered treatments

Preventative dental care, such as regular checkups and cleanings, are covered by the DVA health card. In addition to dental implants, the program covers other tooth replacement options.

Tooth
implant replacements

02

Every two years, you can receive two single tooth implants if you’ve lost a tooth within the last three years. For a partial upper jaw denture, you can use two implants, and for a full lower jaw denture, you can use three implants.

Denture
re-line perks

03

Every two years, DVA card holders can have their dentures re-lined. In most cases, dentures need to be replaced every six years unless your dentist recommends that you do so sooner.

Annual monetary limit exemptions

04

There are some DVA card holders who are not subject to the annual coverage limits. Ex-prisoners of war are exempt from this requirement. Dental and jaw cancers and service-related injuries are given special consideration.
